Mega Megalodon shark trailer for The Black Demon surfaces
New shark thriller The Black Demon, released in US cinemas on April 28, is based on the legend of a huge shark that patrols Mexican waters and Josh Lucas and his family are in its way on a crumbling oil rig.
Cue trailer with lots of people looking serious, people falling in the water and plenty of giant shark action being teased.
Its screenplay is by Boise Esquerra, who knows a thing or two about terror in the water having penned the crocodile horror. Blackwater.
Behind the camera is Rambo: Last Blood director, Adrian Grunberg, so action scenes should at least have some zeal about them. It’s star Josh Lucas isn't unfamiliar to water-based thrills either, having starred in Wolfgang Peterson's Poseidon, which also starred JAWS alumni Richard Dreyfuss.
Although The Poseidon Adventure remake proved that having a bigger boat didn't necessarily mean things were any better, this time though he'll have to worry about a bigger shark, a Megalodon.
The Black Demon is based on the legend of a huge shark that patrols Mexican waters, which has even had numerous sightings from local fisherman in recent years.
The creature - some say it is a huge great white, some a Megalodon and others a brand new species - was also featured on an episode of MonsterQuest.
The Black Demon is the first of two Megalodon shark films to hit big screens this year, with the second being the highly anticipated The Meg 2.
That shark sequel, starring Jason Statham and directed by Ben Wheatley, is based on the best-selling books by Steve Alten and causes carnage on cinema screens from this August.
But which will be the bigger fish at the box office?
Both films show the continuing fascination for shark films, almost 50 years after the release of JAWS. Check out these other shark films swimming your way soon.
