Forget Jesus in toast, we’ve got JAWS dog Pipit on a nail
It all came about when Dean Newman inadvertently trapped his thumb in a sliding door after – somewhat fittingly – getting The Jaws Log book, written by JAWS co-screenwriter, Carl Gottlieb.
Dean said: “I was grabbing my copy of The Jaws Log, which is basically the bible for the behind the scenes of making JAWS, for some research for an upcoming article when I slid the door shut and trapped my thumb. It was several days later when I noticed that the outline bore a resemblance to Pipit the dog from the beach scene in JAWS.”
Apparently, it is a phenomenon known as ‘face pareidolia’ and works as our brains interprets such images as faces or recognisable shapes, such as Pipit in this case.
It’s little wonder than Dean sees JAWS characters in shapes as he has written hundreds of articles for The Daily Jaws, the world’s number one JAWS fan site and has featured in The Guardian and on Shark Week talking about the film.
And he also ended up playing as one of the many people to play Quint in the JAWS WeMake, which was an epic fan-made version of JAWS when the world was under lockdown conditions sue to Covid.
Have you seen any sharks or JAWS characters in toast, clouds or indeed trapped nail bruises?
