THE DAILY JAWS A BIG HIT ON SHARK WEEK!
Following in the footsteps of Jaws author Peter Benchley, The Daily Jaws (TDJ) made its triumphant debut on Discovery's Shark Week earlier this week.
The were featured on Josh Gates Tonight talking about the global sensation that was the Jaws WeMake, a fan-made retelling of Jaws produced under lockdown conditions in backyahd's from the UK, US and even India.
Gates dubbed Ross and Dean from TDJ as "visionaries" for their fun and fin-filled rendition of the classic 1975 Steven Spielberg film, which Josh called "a stunning achievement."
During the interview he went onto say: "The whole thing just made me laugh and smile, it's just so endearing for some reason."
There was a wide selection of clips shown from the WeMake, introducing us to various snippets (but alas no Pipits) of people playing Quint, Hooper, Brody, Mayor Vaughn....and even the shark!
One of those featured was from New Jersey. She starred in a clip as Hooper in his portable shower...we mean anti-shark cage. As the great white shark was another family member, the husky Cayenne, who is quite possibly βthe cutest Jaws shark ever.β
Of her appearance on Shark Week, Paige said: "As a Jaws and shark fan, the idea of being on Shark Week was beyond my wildest dreams. I literally wait all year for it to be Shark Week again.
" I was just happy The Daily Jaws and the WeMake were getting their due, so to see my great white husky shark chosen as one of the clips was, and will continue to be, a thrill akin to saving Amity Island from the poor misunderstood shark."
And that about sums up our excitement pretty well. Whilst responding to Shark Week's Twitter feed, @profbsr23 from Ohio, tweeted: The best ep of Josh Gates was tonight. Jaws themed AND @thedailyjaws was on! Jawsome ππ¦ #SharkWeek
All in all, its been quite a week at The Daily Jaws, not only appearing in the US on Shark Week, but also meeting Jaws and Jaws 2 actor Jeffrey Kramer in person, who played Deputy Hendricks. Here's when we caught up with him: HAPPY HENDRICKS DAY!
And then, rounding out the week, Ross got the opportunity to interview the renowned shark expert, conservationist and woman behind the live action footage in Jaws, Valerie Taylor.
He got to interview her about a new documentary about her career, called Playing With Sharks, which is set to debut on Disney Plus on July 23. You can catch the full interview here:
