Disclosure Day star Emily Blunt is a huge JAWS fan
Emily Blunt may be heading up Steven Spielberg''s latest blockbuster, the alien visitation epic Disclosure Day, but her favourite film from the master filmmaker is JAWS, in fact it was that film that inspired her to pursue an acting career.
Recalling her childhood movie experiences to the Sunday Mirror, the London-born star shared: “My dad was always going to the video store to get really inappropriate films for all of us to watch.
"One of my first experiences was watching JAWS at the age of seven, and he would pitch that it was for the whole family - but it was really for him and we would be terrified.
"It was one of my first memories of films and it’s still my favourite, even now. I must have seen it 35 times. The more you see it, the more you learn about how extraordinary it is."
Perhaps not surprising then that when seaking in an interview to Rotten Tomatoes, she revealed that JAWS is in fact her favourite movie of all time.

Blunt needed a bigger boat in Jungle Cruise, kept the money grabbing sharks at the bank at bay in Mary Poppins Returns and faced her own monsters with jaws in A Quiet Place and its follow up, A Quiet Place II.
The latter also features a lovely homage to JAWS, with Brody’s Pizzeria being seen in the background.
Of Jaws, she said: “I’ve seen it about 30 times. Even though it has a ludicrous backdrop of them trying to find this Great White shark, I think it’s a film about people and relationships - and I just think the performances are fantastic."
Blunt went onto praise its amazing characters, which is no surprise as she has a real soft spot for Chief Brody, played by Roy Scheider, crushing on him like Quint does on Narragansett cans.
“I do think it’s a perfect movie,” Blunt said, talking about its “amazing characters.”
She added: “I know so many people worldwide who became victims of Steven Spielberg and will not go in the water.”
Until recently that included Blunt herself, as thanks to the summer blockbuster she was still terrified of sharks.
Blunt does now feel like it is safe to go back into the water though, as she has started diving, which has helped her become friends with sharks again.
She said: "I went diving with the Grey Reef sharks and Blacktip sharks, and that was extraordinary.”
And that JAWS obsession goes even deeper, as The Devil Wears Prada 2 actress also has a self-proclaimed crush on Chief Brody, played by Roy Scheider. She was specifically captivated by the mimiking scene at the kitchen table with his young son, Sean Brody, and the way he dangles a cigarette from the side of his mouth whilst backing back into the cabin of the Orca to inform Quint, Robert Shaw, that they are going to need a bigger boat once the shark breaks the surface.
Being such a mega JAWS fan, one can imagine that Blunt had several close encounters with Spielberg about the making of the shark classic - who wouldn't, right - and JAWS disclosure questions aplenty between takes during the filming of Disclosure Day.
