BABY SHARK IS 'VIRGIN BIRTH'
Jesus H Christ, a shark that has been born in an all female tank is being called a rare 'virgin birth'.
The baby smooth hound shark was born in an all-female Italian acqairium, which had been all-female for the last ten years.
Italian scientists now think that this birth could be the first ever documented case of shark parthenogenesis in that particular species.
Parthenogenesis is a rare phenomenon where an egg develops into an embryo without being fertilized by a sperm. And if that sounds somewhat familiar, that's how life found a way in Jurassic Park.
So, don't be surprised if that ends up weaving itself into a future shark thriller, although it isnt something new as has been documented in about 15 species of sharks and rays.
