The BIG JAWS review of 2022

This Daily Jaws review of 2022, swallow you whole.

As Jaws events go, we're gonna need a bigger calendar, as it has been a truly great (white) 12 months to be a Jaws fan.

Love to prove that, wouldn't we. Get our name into the National Geographic. Well we've gone back through the last year and cut it wide open.

So, hold your breath as we take a deep dive through a treasure trove of Jaws events that show that the shark and cast of Jaws are still global (they've always been Universal) stars almost 50 years since it was first released.

Once again, we thank you to everyone for their time, support, articles and just reading, liking and sharing our content. The Daily Jaws is only where it is because of you, so thanks for continuing to be a part of that journey.

We drink to your legs, and here's to a bigger and better boat in 2023.

Image of the year

The Daily Jaws image of the year 2022 is awarded to Matty Smith for his great white shark portrait.

Matty: "I had wanted to shoot a charismatic over/under portrait of a great white shark for a couple of years. Some techniques I had previously tried failed terribly, so this time I designed and constructed my own carbon pole and remote trigger. This enabled me to safely lower my camera and housing into the water with my own 12” split shot dome port attached.

"Surprisingly the sharks were instantly attracted to the camera with no extra bait needed – in fact it was a battle to stop them biting the dome port! We had wonderfully calm seas and nice evening side lighting for this naturally lit image."

2022 was slim pickings for quality shark movies, however ‘Shark Bait’ is our choice for best of the year. A group of friends enjoying a weekend steal a couple of jetskis racing them out to sea, ending up in a horrific head-on collision. They struggle to find a way home with a badly injured friend while from the waters below predators lurk.
