ORLEANS, Mass. – A surprising discovery on a beach sent the local police in Massachusetts on an unusual mission Tuesday.
A great white shark that washed ashore was removed with the help of a tow truck, the Orleans Police Department shared on Facebook.
""You really never know what kind of call you'll respond to on any given shift," the post stated.
Photos show the massive shark, upside down, being loaded onto the tow truck. Another image captures the shark being transported, highlighting the size of the animal. "At least Sgt Elliott only needed to follow the tow truck and didn't have to wrestle an unruly Great White," the department joked on Facebook.

These sharks can weigh as much as 2.5 tons, or 4,500 pounds, National Geographic reports.
The cause of the shark's death was not disclosed by police.
