Jaws Screenwriter Carl Gottlieb To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

It seems apt that in the 45th anniversary year since the release of Jaws that its co-screenwriter is set to be virtually awarded a lifetime achievement award from the Mystic Film Festival, in Connecticut. 

Carl Gottlieb, who was brought onto Jaws by Steven Spielberg to overhaul the entire script, which at that stage had been penned by Jaws book author Peter Benchley and ab uncredited Howard Sackler.

It was Gottlieb though who helped craft it into the shape we know and continue to love today.

As well as writing the screenplay, Carl (right) played a supporting role in the movie!

Gottlieb is set to receive the lifetime honour on Sunday 25 October. The Mystic Film Festival is an annual event that showcases independent feature-length and short-form narrative films and documentaries from around the world.
