Not a bad record for this vicinity: Jaws swims into second place in UK weekend box office

Emulating the success of the limited release of Jaws in US cinemas, Jaws delivered bums on seats seeing it take second place in the weekend box office tally.

That's not a bad record for this vicinity, with the almost 50 year old Steven Spielberg shark thriller wowing audiences in IMAX and Real D 3D to the tune of £524,000 between Friday 9 and Sunday 11 September.

And technically that's its second appearance in the UK box office top ten as the film also makes a brief appearance in Minions 2, which nestles at number four in the chart with £382,000.

See How They Run claimed the top spot in the chart with a £1.2 million opening.
