JAWS secret inspiration behind Jeff Daniels' SPEED death scene

JAWS is an inspirational movie. It’s imapct on every aspect of the film industry will be felt for decades to come. However, it can be the smallest of things that can inspire something just as cool down road.

While appearting on The Rich Eisen Show, Hollywood star Jeff Daniels talked about the movies he gets most recognised for. Dumb and Dumber (1994) came up as well as his brilliant performance as Will McAvoy in the Newsroom (2012-2014). When Rich Eisen mentioned SPEED (1994), in which Daniels played the supporting role of Harry (bad hat not included), the iconic monent of Harry’s death scene came up. Jeff revealed that Roy Scheider’s performance in JAWS inpsired his characters final on-screen monent.

I remembered an interview that Roy Schieder did for Jaws and they asked Roy that moment Roy when you saw the shark my God I mean one of the great acting moments in cinematic history how did you do that and Roy said “Well, I looked down and when I looked over at the shark I made sure my cheeks muscles were a little up and then I just dropped them.” so I said that’s what I’ll do.

It’s incredible to know that JAWS continues to inspire the biggest of stars in their own iconic moments. Make us wonder… how many other JAWS inspired acting moments are out there we have no clue about. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
