Great white shark warning sent to Scottish coastal town was a big McStake

Residents of a small Scottish town got a bit of a shark-shaped shock when Fortrose – in the Scottish Highlands – was emailed to say that a tag from a great white shark was on one of their beaches.

Those proportions weren’t quite correct as although the name of the town was absolutely correct, the message was meant for one with the same on the other side of the world in New Zealand!

The email was sent by Shark Experience, a sightseeing tour company, asking residents to take to the beaches to help search for the lost shark tag.

And that tag was located, by a labrador named Quasi, showing that sometimes shark stories featuring dogs do have happier endings than Pipit in JAWS.
