Florida movie theater opens with JAWS inspired mini-golf hole
Alamo Drafthouse is making its way to the Sunshine State, with its inaugural Florida site set to open in Naples this spring. Alamo Drafthouse Naples will boast a distinctive feature—a mini-golf course in the lobby, comprising nine holes inspired by iconic films.
Michael Kustermann, CEO of Alamo Drafthouse, expressed excitement about the Naples location, highlighting the city's reputation as a haven for golf enthusiasts. He emphasized that the venue will offer a unique setting for guests to unwind, enjoy drinks, and partake in golfing fun, including aiming balls into the mouth of an alligator.
Alongside the mini-golf course, the Naples venue will house a full bar offering 24 beers on tap and a cocktail menu with a golfing theme. Among the beverages, Chubbs’ 19th Hole Blonde Ale pays homage to Carl Weathers' character from "Happy Gilmore," with plans for a custom tap handle resembling Chubbs’ wooden hand in honor of the late actor.
Spanning a 33,652-square-foot area within Mercato, a retail center on Florida's southwest coast, the new theater will boast 11 auditoriums. Approximately 650 luxury recliner seats and 4k digital projection will be installed, maintaining the signature Alamo Drafthouse experience. The scratch-made food menu, local draft beers, and craft cocktails will be served to guests in their seats by attentive servers, ensuring an uninterrupted movie experience in adherence to the cinema chain’s strict No Talking/No Texting policy.
Adam Schwegman, partner and executive VP of leasing at North American Properties, which oversees Mercato, underscored the desire to enhance the exceptional cinema experience offered by Alamo Drafthouse. He described the forthcoming Naples location as “A true hole-in-one destination for the Naples community.” that will undoubtedly enrich the local community's entertainment options.
