MICHAEL CAINE AND RICHARD DREYFUSS TO TEAM UP FOR JAWS SEQUEL
The powers that be at Universal Studios have relented to mass public pressure and are going give us Jaws fans the sequel we have always demanded.
Yes, Oscar wining actors Richard Dreyfuss and Michael Caine are to reprise their roles as hipster oceanographer Matt Hooper and gambling addicted pilot known only as ‘Hoagie’ (respectively) and will team up for a direct sequel to Jaws The Revenge.
Plot details are sketchy but rumours are that Hooper and Hoagie will battle the off-spring of the Great White that pursued the shark-magnets that are the Brody family to the Bahamas in the 1987 ‘classic’, Jaws The Revenge.
Both Caine and Dreyfuss are method actors who like to live the lives of their characters as fully as possible to bring true depth and realism to their roles.
When filming the original Jaws, Richard Dreyfuss learned how to SCUBA dive. For this new sequel, the actor is taking that journey to new depths by renting a high pressure, deep sea diving suit and is currently 11,000 meters below sea level somewhere in the Pacific ocean. Here he hopes to learn the latest marine wildlife observation techniques. It also believed this practise could integral to the plot - having the battle against the shark take place in the darkest parts of our oceans.
Jaws The Revenge was one of Michael Caine’s famous ‘paycheck’ movies and he purports to have never seen the film, but it paid for a beautiful house. 88 year old Caine is so committed to revisiting the role of Hoagie that he has begun flying lessons and currently getting to grips with a 14A Tomcat fighter jet - the same plane used by Tom cruise in Top Gun.
