SHARKS AND THE CITY

Chief Brody may have regretted his move from New York to Amity Island for a quieter life, but had he stopped in the big apple then he may still have come across sharks.

A man has been charged with keeping seven live sandbar sharks in a pool at his home and was trying to sell them online.

Joshua Seguine was charged with illegal trafficking and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine. He pleaded not guilty.

It would almost be amusing, if it weren't so tragic, as sadly the search also found two dead leopard sharks and a dead hammerhead shark.


Basil Seggos, Department of Environmental Conservation commissioner, said: “It is critical that we work to protect endangered species that are taken from their natural habitats and sold for profit."
