Fanmade Jaws WeMake Deadline Extended (By Order of the Amity PD)
During lockdown The Daily Jaws has been asking Jaws fans around the world to help WeMake Jaws in their own homes during the Covid-19 pandemic.
And Jaws fans from across the world have responded in droves, with fun filmed and animated footage of their favourite shark film that saw them become lockdown Steven Spielbergs. Children and adults have got involved in the filmmaking at home fun, playing all the Amity Island favourites including Chief Brody, Matt Hooper, Quint, Ellen Brody, Mayor Vaughn, as well as fan favourites like Bad Hat Harry, Alex Kintner and Mrs Taft. Not forgetting an animated Pippet!
Now, just like with the 1975 classic, WeMake life is imitating art as days are being added to the production of the Jaws WeMake. The new deadline for the ambitious fanmade homage is midnight (GMT) on Sunday 31 May. The Daily Jaws founder, Ross Williams, explained: "Back in 1974 production of Jaws on Martha's Vineyard ballooned from 58 to 155 days due to weather issues and Bruce the mechanical shark not working. I'm happy to report that our sharks are working and our followers have created some amazing work with a real doff of the bad hat to the magic of Steven Spielberg and majesty of Jaws.
"We've been so impressed with what we have received in both filmed and animated form that we wanted to extend the deadline. With been working our way through the fifty plus clips and have come up with a list of scenes or moments that we are missing to help enhance the JawsWeMake experience further. "We wanted to give as many Jaws fans as possible the chance to get involved, especially in this 45th anniversary year. "
And when is The Daily Jaws WeMake set to make its debut? Saturday 20 June, 45 years to the day that the original Steven Spielberg classic was unleashed on cinema-goers in the US, where it would become the first film to swim past the $100 million box office barrier.
Those missing JawsWeMake scenes in full. If you are picking up a scene to film or animate please let The Daily Jaws know so that they can take it off the list.
