High school English teacher re-creates the plot of Jaws in rhyme
It’s that time-honoured tale: watched ‘Jaws’ as a boy, still twitch every time I enter the water (doesn’t matter if it’s ocean, pool or bathtub!)
And 30 years on from that first fateful viewing, Spielberg’s man-eater masterpiece prompted me to take ideas from the day-job and parlay them into a passion-project. See, I teach High School English and have a successful YouTube channel, Mr Taylor, supporting students in their study of various plays, poems and novels.
Some of these vids boil down to short ‘n’ sweet re-tellings of the plots, with rhyme and goofy cartoons injecting a bit of fun into proceedings.
And now that silly season is upon us and I’m on summer break, I’ve applied the same format to my favourite fish-themed film! Sample line from my ‘Jaws’ story-summary video: “ Your vision deceives in those shadowy seas, Jaws cuts straight through those bars like a cheap tins of beans!”
