JAWS 50th (making-of) anniversary interview with JAWS crew member Marty Milner
The movie JAWS is not just a tale about a shark. It’s also a testament to the work and ingenuinty of an incredible cast and crew giving everything they had to create something truly magical. One of the many unsung heroes who literally made JAWS happen is Marty Milner.
Given Martha's Vineyard's bleak financial situation, the advent of Universal Studios and their urgent requirement for local workers appeared as a stroke of luck to many Islanders. Being the initial local craftsman recruited by the production, carpenter Marty Milner assumed the role of foreman, overseeing the increasing number of workers engaged in crafting set pieces and props at Norton & Easterbrook's boatyard.
Marty took some time out to speak with Ross from The Daily Jaws to tell us about his work on JAWS which included construction of the sets and the iconic billboard, building the Orca and the Orca II, as well as reparing Bruce the shark.

JAWS WeMake
Marty also took part in our JAWS WeMake. Over 100 JAWS fans from the UK, US and India spent part of the Covid-19 lockdown creating their own unique social distanced fan made version of JAWS. And they've never met, the only thing uniting them their love of JAWS and being on lockdown.
