Exclusive two-bite JAWS 50th anniversary interview with Richard Dreyfuss
Oscar winning actor Richard Dreyfuss speaks with The Daily Jaws in an exclusive 50th anniversary interview
This is what happens, a two-part JAWS 50 interview with Matt Hooper actor, the legendary Richard Dreyfuss, dropping from Monday 5 January 2026.
JAWS and film fans don’t need to go to Brisbane, as they have a perfectly good shark film interview between the last surviving crew member of the Orca with the world’s number one JAWS fan site, The Daily Jaws, right here.
The Academy Award-winning actor may not have appeared in any new interview footage in the recent National Geographic JAWS@50 documentary, but The Daily Jaws managed to hook him for an exclusive and intimate chat, that was so long, it was gonna need a bigger interview – in two parts.
He talks about all things JAWS, his reaction to hearing about the death of Robert Shaw, future acting he and the Quint actor had planned, how it was reuniting with Steven Spielberg and John Williams at The Hollywood Bowl and his rapturous return to Amity Island itself, Martha’s Vineyard, the first time since filming wrapped on the first summer blockbuster in 1974.
And instead of Ben Gardner’s head popping up, we’ve got Deputy Hendricks himself, Jeffrey Kramer, gatecrashing the interview to drink to Dreyfuss’s legs.
Ross Williams, founder of The Daily Jaws, who was on interview duties, said: “Richard Dreyfuss is a true JAWS and film icon, so we swallowed the opportunity whole when we had chance to speak to the man, the myth, the Matt Hooper.
“This interview has a bite radius about this big, so we’ve spilt it in two and we know JAWS fans are going to have a wonderful seeing what Richard has to say, speaking about some things we’ve not seen featured in other interviews.”
The first part of the exclusive The Daily Jaws Richard Dreyfuss interview drops on Monday 5 January, with part two set to surface on Thursday 8 January.
Presented in assocation with richardreyfuss.net, part one of the Interview will be available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts
