SEE THE NEW YEAR IN WITH A BANG WITH JAWS

How are you seeing in the New Year? You could wait for the glitterball to drop in Times Square, New York, the fireworks on the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia or the chimes of Big Ben in London.

Or, you could ring in the New Year with the exploding great white shark from Jaws.

The whaaat? That's right, we've checked out Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3D and Jaws the Revenge and pressed pause on the VCR just as the shark explodes, is electrocuted, explodes and explodes again (depending on which version of Revenge you are watching).

So if you fancy seeing in the New Year with the various incarnations of Bruce this is when you'll need to start the films from the Jaws franchise.

Jaws (1975)

If you want to cue up a screening of Jaws so that Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) is on the mast of a rapidly sinking Orca and shoots the handy oxygen tank hanging from the mouth of the shark that makes it go ker-boom at midnight then you'll need to start the Steven Spielberg classic at: 21.59 and 38 seconds.

To see the shark from Jaws (1975) explode on the stroke of midnight, start watching the movie at 21.59hrs and 38 seconds.

Jaws 2 (1978)

We are back on Amity Island and Roy Scheider (and his legs) are thwarting the great white shark this time round, and this time he is holding a ruddy great electrical cable that the shark chows down on and - presumably killing power to the island.

To see the shark quite literally spark into life at midnight, press play on Jaws 2 at: 22:12hrs and 53 seconds
