THE SHARK IS BROKEN. LONG LIVE THE SHARK.
The Shark is Broken. Best play ever.
A must see for any fan of Jaws, or any fan of backstage stories of drunkenness, fighting, and dreams dashed and yet to be fulfilled. In the bar before, people were laughing and joking between groups. Some had not seen Jaws!! It felt very communal.
Ian Shaw, playing his father Robert Shaw was amazing. Very emotional. Great lines. About his Ireland tax exile; “I love Ireland. The Irish are all mad. I think that’s why I love it.” The bloke playing Richard Dreyfuss was very good too, he had all the ticks, mannerisms, and awkward postures even when ”relaxing” we would all recognise from Jaws.
Demetri Goritsas, the actor playing Roy Scheider (I hate f*ckers who call him Roy SchNeider), was excellent and had the short straw….his voice is hard to do, his persona is very straight, and he doesn’t have any weird ticks and mannerisms. But he was still memorable. 90 minutes with no break…I handled it.
Even though my SAS plan failed…get in to London 6:30….go to theatre get out* But….my sister and Lee popped down with 4 hours notice from Lincoln so it was 4pm booze…. I won’t say how many pints I’d had before the play… but I held out….just like those men on the USS Indianapolis….
“Anyway…we delivered the bomb”
