Shark fan Freddie is doing some-fin amazing for sharks

You can catch The Shark Is Broken from 25th July 2023 at the Golden Theater, New York, NYC.

A shark-loving six-year-old from the UK is running 1KM a day to raise money to help protect sharks, all whilst wearing a dorsal fin on his back.

It may not help his speed or his areo-dynamics, but the Freddie Roberts from Ellesmere Port became fascinated with the fish made infamous by JAWS and fell in love with them after learning about coral reefs and other sea life at school.

When the savvy youngster found out about the species was being threatened with extinction because of the likes of the shark fin trade and the acidification of coral reefs, he decided he didn’t need a bigger cause to raise money for. And so, he’s been putting his best foot forward every day in August to raise money for the UK charity Shark Guardian, which supports shark conservation around the world.

His mum, Sasha, told The Liverpool Echo: "People say sharks are scary, but he'll say no they're not. The Jaws films demonised sharks but he doesn't believe in that at all. He's always been keen on them. It's not just about raising money; it's about changing people's perceptions. He wants to be able to share facts about sharks on his run.”

One things for sure, with that fin on his back, he’s one fast fish!
