Vineyard Gazette Media Group Announces Day-Long Celebration for the 50th Anniversary of Jaws

Edgartown, MA (March 7, 2025) – In honor of the 50th anniversary of the blockbuster film Jaws, the Vineyard Gazette Media Group is thrilled to announce a one-day celebration, bringing together Jaws enthusiasts, Island residents who participated in the movie, and visitors for a day filled with nostalgia and entertainment. The Reunion will take place Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in collaboration with Martha’s Vineyard Museum, on the front lawn of the Museum in Vineyard Haven.

The Reunion will be a fun celebration for attendees of all ages. Highlights include:

Meet & Greet: Connect with Island locals who were extras in the film, as well as members of the Hollywood team who helped bring Jaws to life.
Memorabilia Displays: Including a replica of Chief Brody’s police car.
Merchandise Vendors: Shop for Jaws-related items, as well as handcrafted goods from local artisans.
Food & Beverage Vendors: Specialty Jaws-themed bites and refreshing beverages for purchase.
Live Music & Performances: Special musical performances, sing-alongs, and trivia.
Attendees will receive a free copy of the Vineyard Gazette Media Group’s specialty publication, Jaws at 50: Commemorative Anniversary Magazine. The magazine is filled with rarely seen photos from Islanders, stories from the movie set, and photos of filming location sites. The commemorative magazine is now on pre-sale.

The Reunion will take place on the expansive Lewis Lawn of the Martha’s Vineyard Museum overlooking Vineyard Haven Harbor and is part of the Museum’s four-day Amity Homecoming weekend celebration, which will feature special programming and memorabilia such as a replica of the interior of the Orca boat. The Museum will be showcasing its Jaws at 50: A Deeper Dive exhibition all summer long. Through photographs, oral histories, original art, and movie props, this exhibition will delve into how the Island became the fictional Amity Island, showcasing the Vineyarders who brought the movie to life and the enduring legacy of Spielberg’s blockbuster. The 50th Reunion promises to be a must-visit event for fans of the classic film, history buffs, and anyone looking to experience the magic of Jaws where it all began.
