Shark comic cover is a Marvel-ous homage to JAWS

The JAWS movie poster by Roger Kastel is so iconic that it is still making waves almost 50 years after the film was released, with a homage to it now appearing on a forthcoming Marvel comic cover.

An inverted parody to the poster used for the Steven Spielberg shark film makes up the variant cover for It's Jeff #1, the print version of the Marvel Unlimited Infinity Comic starring Jeff the Landshark, which is heading to comic bookstore shelves this March.

The cover, by Doaly, shows Jeff the Landshark moving towards an unsuspecting tiny Namor on a yellow rubber duck, perhaps also a nod to the colour yellow being a signifier of the shark in JAWS, from the yellow inflatable of Alex Kintner, the yellow barrels and the yellow t-shirt that Pipit's stick throwing owner is wearing.

That's not the first time JAWS has inspired a Marvel superhero comic cover, with everyone from Spider-Man, Nighcrawler, Deadpool and Black Panther doffing their cowls.
