New trailer for upcoming shark movie 'The Last Breath' surfaces

A new shark movie is on the way! ‘The last Breath’ means the fight to survive is on. Inhale deeply, count to 10 & swim for your life… there's blood in the water for a team of divers in 'The Last Breath'.

The film features Julian Sands (A Room with a View) in his final role, alongside Jack Parr (Peaky Blinders), Kim Spearman (As I Am), and Alexander Arnold (Yesterday). Filming took place in late 2022, just a few months before Sands went missing while hiking in California. His remains were discovered in June on Mount Baldy.

In the movie, a group of old college friends reunite for a Caribbean scuba diving trip to explore the wreckage of a WWII battleship. They find themselves trapped in an underwater labyrinth of rusted metal, surrounded by great white sharks. Signature Entertainment is planning an early-2024 release, likely making it the last of Sands' films to be shown. The British actor, known for roles in films like The Killing Fields, A Room with a View, Warlock, Arachnophobia, Boxing Helena, and Leaving Las Vegas, as well as TV shows like 24, Smallville, and Banshee, was found dead in June after going missing on Mount Baldy near Los Angeles in January.

In The Last Breath, Sands plays Levi, an experienced diver and mentor to young divers, described as a "gruff, rugged bear of a man who is kind and generous." The deal for the film was negotiated between Signature Entertainment’s Acquisitions and Development Manager Katie Wilkinson and Metro International’s CEO Will Machin. Production financing was provided by Orogen Entertainment, Anamorphic Media, and Filmgate, with Umedia co-producing. International distribution support came from the UK Global Screen Fund, financed by the UK Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and administered by the BFI.

Wilkinson commented: "Signature absolutely loves a shark film (who doesn’t?), and we couldn’t be happier to work with Metro on The Last Breath – it’s a thrilling wild ride from start to finish. We’re super excited for UK audiences to get their teeth into this one in 2024."

Machin added: “Signature have proved themselves to be the home for shark thrillers in the UK so we couldn’t be more delighted to place The Last Breath in their very capable hands.”
