Jaws swimming to IMAX screens in the UK
It's official! This September, UK Jaws fans are gonna need a bigger screen as the Steven Spielberg shark classic is hitting the bigger screen in IMAX.
That's right, just one week after Jaws surfaces in the US on IMAX and Real D 3D, it is hopping over the other side of the pond (complete with Michael) to UK shores on September 9th.
Dean Newman, head of content for The Daily Jaws, the world's number one Jaws fan site, said: "This is the news all Jaws fans have been hoping for, and it is great that we are getting to see it a week after it debuts in the US."
That's a far cry from how long the UK had to wait to see Jaws back in 1975, as although it hit US cinemas on June 20th, UK audiences had to wait over six months before they could feast their black eyes on Brody, Hooper, Quint and the great white shark, as it wasn't released there until Boxing Day, the day after Christmas Day.
Dean added: "The UK is only an island if you look at it from the water, but we've been very lucky when it comes to Jaws. Robert Shaw was born here, and his son's play about the making of Jaws, The Shark Is Broken premiered here.
"At the time we said it was the biggest thing to happen to Jaws since the film was released back in 1975, but quite literally the biggest thing to happen to Jaws is IMAX. And we can't wait to swallow the experience whole."
