'Bruce' The Jaws Themed Stage Musical Set To Surface Summer 2021
Jaws fans are getting luckier and luckier. When actor and writer Ian Shaw (son of Jaws star Robert) announced last year he would be playing his father in a stage production about the making of Jaws, based in part on his father’s journals, we thought all our Jaws dreams had come true! Now it appears jaws stage shows are like yellow barrels…. one just isn’t enough!
New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse announced today that its 2020-2021 season will include Bruce, anew musical about the problem-plagued filming of Steven Spielberg’s 1975 classic Jaws.
The new show will be based on Jaws screenwriter Carl Gottlieb’s 1975 memoir The Jaws Log - the ultimate guide to the making of the movie. Bruce is to be directed and choreographed by Donna Feore, with a book and lyrics by Richard Oberacker and music by Robert Taylor (the duo behind Broadway’s 2017 Bandstand). Bruce will be a co-production with Seattle Rep, and is set for a June 9 – July 4, 2021, debut engagement at the Paper Mill Playhouse.
