You'll be moved to tears watching JAWS 50th anniversary tribute film 'Island'
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to visit Martha’s Vineyard.
September, 1990. I sat on the floor of my grandparents living room on a Saturday afternoon and watched Jaws for the first time. It certainly wasn’t the last. I had just turned 5 years old.
June, 2025, I’m standing next to the Chappy Ferry driveway in Edgartown. I’m on Martha’s Vineyard. I’m on Amity Island. I’m overwhelmed. I’m close to 40.

I don’t need to justify to anyone visiting this website how much I love Jaws, and if I start explaining what it means to me, I’ll be here all day, so I’ll let the short film do the talking.
My name is John Campbell, I’m from Edinburgh, Scotland, and I am proud to say, “I was there when Jaws turned 50”. When I stood on the shores of the real life Amity Island, I felt closer to Spielberg’s film than ever before. My film, Island, was made by a Jaws fan, for all Jaws fans… Especially for fans who couldn’t make the trip to the 50th celebration in June - Because visiting Martha’s Vineyard that weekend really was the trip of a lifetime, and this short film, my little love letter to Jaws, and the island where it all began, is what it felt like to be there.
