Lauren From Long Beach Carries On The Family Tradition Of Loving Jaws
Meet Jaws finatic and Long Beach resident Lauren. The 32 year old soccer loving, veteran make up artist and mother of 3 has been a life long Jaws fan and The Daily Jaws caught up with her to learn more about her love for the greatest movie ever made.
TDJ: When you aren’t watching Jaws or trying to spot sharks at Long Beach, how do you spend your time?
L: I love the beach (ironically lol) I love soccer, I’ve played since I was a kid and both my older kids play. I’m a movie head, I love watching movies, my favourite genre is thriller/horror.
TDJ: What other movies do you like?
L: I’ve actually been pretty impressed with the other shark movies that have come out.Deep Blue Sea, The Shallows, 47 Meters Down, and The Meg. I love the Jurassic Park franchise too.
JAWS
TDJ: when, where, how old and who were you with when your first saw jaws?
L: I can remember being either 4 or 5 and watching it with my Dad on our old couch. I loved it, it didn’t scare me at all.
Lauren with her father after seeing shark movie 47 Meters Down at the theatre.
TDJ: Why do you love Jaws?
L: My Dad, he’s the reason I have such a love and respect for sharks and why I love Jaws so much.
TDJ: who is your fav character and why?
L: I love Chief Brody, his witty sarcasm and classic facial expressions.
TDJ: favourite moment in the movie and why?
L: When Ellen and Brody are on the beach, she sitting behind him and he looks like he’s scene a shark and the camera zooms in on him.
TDJ: what is the secret to Jaws' longevity?
L: The idea of a rogue shark terrorizing the beaches during summer is a realistic scenario. Even though the storyline and the characters changed throughout the movies it always kept the same classic idea.
TDJ: What is the most treasured item in your Jaws collection?
L: I have a copy of JAWS by Peter Benchley
TDJ: What do you think of the sequels?
L: I love them all, but 3 was my favorite for along time because of the Sea World twist.
TDJ: What are your thoughts on a reboot / remake?
L: That’s actually something I would love to see but it has to be done the right way. Not over done, the shark has to look good like The Shallows and Deep Blue Sea. The storyline has to be believable not like 47 Meters Down uncaged.
TDJ: Your son loves Jaws too! Does he get this from you?
L: Aww my little shark bait🦈️ My son has loved sharks his whole life lol obviously because of me. Ever it hung from clothes, slippers, robes and toys.
TDJ: When do you think is a good age to show Jaws to kids? And why?
It all depends on the child, my older daughter, Chloe has no interest in anything scary. My son, Zachary on the other hand loves the idea of someone getting eaten or zombies. It’s also important to break down a film especially a thriller to a child while they watch. Showing them actual film footage and explaining what they’re watching isn’t reality.
TDJ: Who would you like to meet/have you met anyone from the Jaws family (actors etc)? And what would you ask them?
L: Oh man! I would love to talk to the man himself Steven Spielberg. Who and what would make another Jaws movie worth making?
