Win 'The Deep' on Blu-ray
Based on a novel by Peter Benchley and starring Robert Shaw, The Deep is set to make its Blu-ray debut in the UK on September 14th and thanks to 101 Films, The Daily Jaws have managed to hook a copy to give as a prize to one lucky winner.
All the more fitting then that we announce the competition on what is the 42nd anniversary of Robert Shaw's untimely death in 1978.
Shaw is still hugely adored and his acting admired, we see that each time we post a Robert Shaw or Quint article, so we know this competition will prove a popular one.
There may be no Brody or Hooper, but the Quint actor lights up the screen once again, this time alongside Nick Nolte, Jacqueline Bisset, Eli Wallach and future Jaws 3D actor Louis Gossett Jr. Suspense, intrigue, treasure, drugs and pesky moray eels inhabit the warm waters off Bermuda in this 1977 adaptation of the Peter Benchley novel of the same name, that was of course his follow up to Jaws.
We'll be reviewing the film and the extras on the forthcoming 101 Films bluray soon. Extras on the disc are as follows:
Cinema Retro mini-magazine: The Deep 'Film in Focus' Special
Commentary with film critic Kevin Lyons (NEW)
Interview with Underwater Art Director Terry Ackland-Snow (NEW)
The Making of the Deep
Select Scenes from the three hour Special Edition
Please note that the disc is region B locked, so to play it you'll need to be based in Europe or have a multi-region bluray player.
