STEVEN SPIELBERG'S DUEL SET TO DRIVE ONTO 4K

Film fans were blown away with the release of Jaws on 4K, so those same fans of film and Steven Spielberg will be just as excited to hear that Duel is accelerating to the same format in 2022 (as announced by @GeekGabNews).

For many Duel, originally a TV movie from 1971 but was released in an extended cut theatrically across Europe, is like a proto Jaws.

Instead of a great white shark versus the crew of the Orca, we have a huge truck versus David Mann, brilliantly played by Dennis Weaver.

Both are very much man (or Mann) against beast, and both are still full of edge of your seat excitement. Here's how both films are bonded by blood: Jaws and Duel: Bonded By Blood, Sweat And Gears

Just like you can't help but think of Jaws when you go in to the water, you can't help but think of Duel when you see a large truck in your rear view mirror.

Extras are yet to be announced, but it would be great if the original TV movie version is also on the disc, as currently only the extended cut is available.

Here's our review of that extended cut of Duel, which woukd help show Steven Spielberg's brilliance ahead of Jaws: OBJECTS IN THE REAR-VIEW FEAR: STEVEN SPIELBERG'S DUEL ISN'T SLOWING DOWN AT 50
