Small Boat Rams Into Great White Shark Head On

In this video, Carlos aka The Maiibu Artist shares a variety of interactions between boats and great white sharks, including one accidental boat strike on a shark larger than the boat itself.

A vast majority of boat owners are good people, with a true appreciation for nature, but a very small minority could probably improve their approach to respecting nature. Some folks have often claimed that sharks can't get struck by boats simply because they either move out of the way or hear the boat long before it strikes. This video proves otherwise. We also examine the protections put into place for whales and how boats approach them versus how boats approach sharks within a nursery.

About Carlos

I am a professional photographer and FAA Certified drone pilot based in Southern California. My work has been featured on National Geographic Shark Fest, Discovery Channel's Shark Week, NBC, CBS Evening News, LA Times, The Boston Globe, PBS, France 2, & a variety of other media outlets.

I have a passion for art. It's happening all around us all the time. My greatest joy is capturing its beauty. Whether it's documenting a shark from above with a drone or photographing a cheetah running on the African plains; I believe beauty is all around us. Photography is among the greatest creations of mankind. Photography does more than allow an artist to capture a moment in time. It allows one to capture life in its bare elements. It captures its vulnerable moments, its candid moments, its joy, pain, beauty, and perhaps the most essential element; love. This is why I picked up a camera in 2001. Since then, I've been capturing moments.

I approach photography with the simple concept that “life is art”. I love photography and we love life. If you feel the same way, let’s get to know each other better.
