Release the Joe Alves cut of Jaws 3D

We've had the Snyder cut of Justice League and even a reshaped Rocky IV from Sylvester Stallone, so what about releasing the longer director’s cut of Jaws 3D?

A whaaaat? That's right, somewhere there is a further 20 minutes of SeaWorld set shark sequel related antics.

Joe Alves was the production designer on Jaws and associate producer, production designer and second unit director on Jaws 2, going to the highest rung for the second Jaws sequel in 1983.

As he recalls it was the suggestion of Universal executive, Verna Fields. And who wouldn't listen to Verna, after all she edited the Steven Spielberg film to Oscar glory and has kept it swimming in our subconscious for the best part of 50 years.

Alves may have been a big fish in the Jaws (Michael's in the pond) but this being his first - and only - film as director  he did not have final cut on Jaws 3-D.

Producer Alan Landsburg drove that particular boat, Chief. So, what exactly was cut  more shark action, some  more damn shark's mother, more lingering 3D shots?

Alves told SYFY WIRE: "I cut the movie to a certain length, as with the other two, and then (Landsburg) cut about 20 minutes out of the personal relationships.”

We'd still like to still see this alternative Alves Jaws 3D cut to what was finally released, just to see the unseen footage and what character nuances it added.

Even if it isn't added back into the actual film, then let's at least have those scenes appear as deleted scenes on the next release of the film. Unless it is more scenes of Cindy and Sandy that is.
