Jaws was first glimpsed in 3D almost 10 years ago

It's happened before, sort of. That's right, 2022 wasn't the first time cinema audiences got to see Jaws in 3D.

Technically that first happened back in April 2013 with the release of Jurassic Park 3D, as Jaws has a blink and you’d miss it cameo in the Steven Spielberg dinosaur classic.

That cameo features Roy Scheider and the shark from Jaws and the classic you're gonna need a bigger boat scene. And it all takes place on the desktop of Nedry's computer, although you'd think if he was such a Jaws he would have at least heeded the warning about wearing bright yellow.

And that could have very well been the only time we could have seen Jaws in 3D as in interviews around the time if release Spielberg was quoted as saying that Jurassic Park was the only film in his portfolio he'd consider giving the post release 3D treatment to.

Speaking to Moviefone Spielberg said: "the only movie that I would ever even consider retrofitting is the first Jurassic Park, which I think would look pretty spectacular in 3D. That's the only one of my films that I would consider doing in 3D."

Thankfully for us, he swallowed that comment whole and almost a decade later we got to witness Jaws in all its 3D glory. Just don't go hoping for a 3D version of 1941.
