In the world of cinematic scores it seems to us that John Williams has no equal. Williams’ anthems are so tightly wound with the movies he composes for, it’s unthinkable to separate the music from the pictures.
Indeed Spielberg himself underlines the importance of John Williams’ to enhance the impact of Jaws, saying that his iconic score accounted for half of the films success. The iconic “duh-nuh” theme taps directly into our limbic brains, instantly evoking feelings of dread and anticipation. Unbelievably, It’s still synonymous with impending danger nearly 50 years on.
