Jack Quaid: JAWS 50th anniversary interview

Listen to Jack’s interview on Spotify and Apple Podcasts

Jack Quaid is best known for his breakout role as Hughie Campbell in Amazon’s The Boys, as well as appearances in Oppenheimer, Scream (2022), The Hunger Games, and the cult- favourite animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks. The son of actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, Jack has carved out his own path with roles that blend vulnerability, wit, and depth. But beyond the fame, he’s just a guy who absolutely loves Jaws. In this episode, Jack sits down with The Daily Jaws founder Ross Williams to reflect on the power and perfection of Spielberg’s 1975 classic — a film he calls his “favourite of all time.” He shares memories of watching it on the big screen, visiting Martha’s Vineyard and finding ways to sneak Jaws references into his own work.

Jack Quaid is surprised by JAWS actor Jeffrey Kramer carshing the interview

The conversation dives into everything from the genius of John Williams’ score and Spielberg’s use of suspense, to the impact of “happy accidents” in filmmaking. Jack talks candidly about the films that shaped him, the joy of practical effects, and which character he’d most want to play in a (hypothetical and unnecessary) remake. And just when he thinks it’s safe to sit down for a podcast, a surprise guest crashes the interview to lay down the law. This episode is a celebration of fandom, craft, and the ways Jaws continues to inspire storytellers, performers, and audiences half a century later.
