HORROR MASTER STEPHEN KING PICKS SHARK MOVIE AS FILM FAVOURITE

He’s been dubbed the master of horror, so it’s perhaps no surprise that in a list of 22 favourite films Stephen King, the author of Salem’s Lot, Carrie, IT, The Stand, The Dead Zone and Christine has picked lots from the suspense and horror genre.

These particular films have been culled from recent interviews with the legendary Maine-writer.

Just don’t expect to see Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of The Shining make the cut, he hates it. One that did though is the Renny Harlin shark thriller, Deep Blue Sea, which celebrates 30 years of release this year.

King will probably be interested in our 30th anniversary retrospective later this month then. From numerous polls, we know there are a huge number of fans of this many, many still citing it as their favourite after Jaws.

We know that Harlin follows us, so we’d love to hear from him what he thinks of the news that King is a fan of his fishy thriller.

Harlin is no stranger to horror either, having helmed Prison and A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 4, before turning his sights to action with Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger.

There may be no Jaws on the list, but Spielberg is there, represented by Duel, as is Roy Scheider in William Friedkin’s Sorcerer. The latter which the horror-meister named as his favourite on the list.

Here at The Daily Jaws we were also especially pleased to see Event Horizon making the list.
