Could new Jurassic Park video game pave the way for a return of JAWS to games consoles?

It's felt like almost 65 million years since we have been waiting for a Jurassic Park video game that delivers the same thrills and spectacle as the Steven Spielberg film which was released in 1993.

To quote Ian Malcolm from the film, based on the bestseller by Michael Crichton, "Life, uh, finds a way."

The trailer for the forthcoming game, Jurassic Park: Survival, is mainly made up of cut scenes, but we do get a tantalising look at some in-game footage which features a whole bunch of running from dinosaurs. What's not to love, right?

And the game also picks up the day after the events of the original Jurassic Park film, so if that hasn't  got you salivating like a hungry T-Rex then you have to be deader than a mosquito caught in amber.

All in all it sounds to be doing for Jurassic Park video games what Alien Isolation did for Alien ones, which begs the question...when are we going to get a new JAWS video game?

What a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary release of the film that would be! It could even be a prequel or fall between the events of JAWS and JAWS 2 – even directly after JAWS - or even post JAWS 2, involving a mix of voice actors who were actually in those two films, whether that be Jeffrey Kramer returning as Hendricks or any of those JAWS 2 cast we interviewed earlier this year.

We could even have narration from Ian Shaw, after his success as playing Robert Shaw in The Shark Is Broken in the West End and Broadway.

Or, get that cast together and let's have Colin Donnell voicing Chief Brody and Alex Brightman Matt Hooper, after they played Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss on stage, in a video game version of the film, doffing it's bad hat to the Steven Spielberg shark classic.

Who wouldn’t want to control those characters, be Hooper in the cage, step into the shoes of Quint at the end of the pulpit experience the elation of Brody making that shark and oxygen tank go boom! Or…even control the great white shark for sections. Just like in JAWS Unleashed.

Would you welcome a new JAWS video game?
