John Williams, Spielberg and Jaws actor films well represented in Classic FM Movie Music Hall of Fame

When any top 100 list starts with the John Williams and Steven Spielberg collaboration of War of the Worlds, you know you are in for an interesting list of film scores voted as the best. 

Featuring the likes of John Barry, Jerry Goldsmith, Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone and Thomas Newman the list, compiled from votes by thousands of Classic FM listeners and Radio Times readers.

Jaws surfaces much lower than expected  at number 38, beaten by the bigger boats of both  Titanic and Pirates of the Caribbean, at 36 and 35 respectively. 

Robert Shaw is back on the attack at the 33 and 32 positions, with Ron Goodwin's Battle of Britain roaring in at 33 and The Dambusters, by Eric Coates, bouncing in at 32.

We stick with World War 2 as Saving Private Ryan storms the number 28 position. 

And the bullwhip cracking Raiders of the Lost Ark rolls in at 26. This score belongs in a museum! 

Something to phone hones about, its E. T. - the extra terrestrial at 15.

Harry Potter and Philosopher's Stone magics itself into 14.

Jurassic Park stomps into the number 10 spot. 

That's no moon at number 7, it's just Star Wars. 

And taking the top spot is the heartbreaking score to Schindler's List. 

That's an impressive 11 Williams and Spielberg collaboration entries on the list, with Williams scoring a further four entries for, Star Wars, Superman, Harry Potter and Seven Years in Tibet.
