Boris Johnson Reveals Jaws Character As Political Inspiration

TODAY THE UK goes to the polls to decide it’s next government. Current Prime Minister Boris Johnson is hoping to retain power and lead the Conservative Party to victory.

Before becoming PM, Boris Johnson was Mayor of London from 2008 - 2016. While running for Mayor, Johnson admitted one of his political influences was none other than Amity Island’s very own Mayor Larry Vaughn.

Played by Murray Hamilton, Vaughn tells police chief Martin Brody to keep the beaches open to protect the town's tourist trade despite the shark attacks.

Johnson told business leaders: "The real hero of Jaws is the mayor, a wonderful politician. A gigantic fish is eating all your constituents and he decides to keep the beach open. OK, in that instance, he was wrong but in principle we need more politicians like the mayor."

While MP for Henley, Johnson also said in an article: "There was one laudable thing about him, and that was his refusal to give way to hysteria. I loved his rationality. Of course, it turned out that he was wrong. But it remains that he was heroically right in principle."

The Labour Party was stunned. A senior source said: "It may be safe to go back into the water. It's certainly not safe to go back to the Tories."
