You're Gonna Need A Bigger Diaper

EVERY JAWS FAN who has a child or baby was blown away the internet sensation that is ‘JAWS BED’. Pictures of a crying infant about to be swallowed by a hungry shark went viral and The Daily Jaws was inundated with questions about this jawsome creation! So we did some digging and got to the bottom of the story.

Inspired by the 1975 thriller film Jaws, Staten Island sculptor and toy designer Joseph Reginella came up with this cool idea. Joseph’s work at Themendous making custom-made sculptures and props per customer requests keeps him on his creative toes, often building movie/pop-culture themed sculptures.

When Joseph made an airplane-themed baby bed for one customer based in California, he had an idea…. “I thought it would be funny if someone would order a terrifying bed instead of something mainstream,” he told CNET. And he found the perfect opportunity to make this idea into reality when his friend Mark was having a boy.

Quint’s demise, the scene from JAWS that inspired Joe to create the ‘Jaws Bed’.

“My kid was in that crib, too!” Baby’s parents look on, thrilled by Joseph’s creation.

"I thought people would like it, but this is crazy!" And, yes, the baby loves it too, according to Reginella.

To create ‘Jaws Bed’ Joseph used styrofoam to carve the shark, water, and the boat that serves as the bed that comfortably and securely holds the baby. Once the baby is in the vessel, it looks like the shark is about to swallow the little tot - Quintastic!

For added durability and a sleek finish, he coats the sculpture in plastic and paints it with appropriate colors. Reginella completed the project in about a week and the result is a terrifying baby bed that is scarily adorable.
