FORGET SHARKS, COW ATTACKS CLOSE BEACHES

Beaches in the US and UK may have had shark related panics in the last few weeks, but on the small Mediterranean island of Corsica beaches have closed due to attacks by cows.

Pull the udder one you may say, but that is what has happened after authorities closed the beaches temporarily.

The island is famous for having 15,000 cows that roam the island, which includes the beaches. Experts say that the cows have got that used to having the beaches to themselves during Covid, that they aren't being exactly welcoming to the now returning tourists.

And that includes goring one unlucky beach visitor in the neck. You moo cow, we've got a panic on our hands on the fourth of July.

But this isn't a story that should be milked for laughs, as statistically you are more like to be killed by a cow than you are by a shark. In the US alone an average of 22 people are killed by cows every year. The majority are gored or trampelled upon.

Here's how shark attacks played out over the last year, which saw attacks down, but deaths up slightly on the previous year: https://thedailyjaws.com/news/international-shark-attack-file-2020-attacks-down-fatalities-up
