HOW TO LISTEN TO ALL FOUR JAWS SOUNDTRACKS FOR FREE
“John Williams’ score gave me the shark I didn’t have.” - Steven Spielberg.
Two ominous notes on a piano not only gave Spielberg his shark but entered into the public consciousness like no other film score before or since. Those two alternating notes - E and F or F and F sharp - represented something primal and relentless in the shark and our fear in the Jaws, as we only see four minutes of the shark in the entire film, the music - along with the pov camera and the yellow barrels - became the shark.
John Williams had one rule, to never fool the audience, if you watch the scenes with the cardboard fan or underwater shots where the sharks isn't there, we never hear the Jaws theme. We only hear it when the shark is there.

Sequels to Jaws were inevitable. So who should pick up the baton and continue the legacy of arguably the most recognisable movie soundtrack of all time? Well, for the first sequel, Jaws 2 (1978) producers again turned to John Williams who composed a much more expansive and flourishing soundtrack that equals and some ways exceeds its predecessor.
For Jaws 3-D and Jaws The Revenge the talents of Alan Parker and Michael Small respectively were brought in. Smart and talented enough not to imitate or lampoon Williams’ defining scores, the two latter sequels soundtracks are brimming with great tracks such as Philip’s Demise (Track 10, Jaws 3-D) and Michael Attacked By Shark (Track 21, Jaws The Revenge).
