The Shark Is Broken is extended: They’re gonna need a bigger run
Audiences have been coming in waves to The Shark Is Broken, the West End comedy-drama about the behind the scenes going on during the making of Jaws.
Those waves are ironic as the whole show is set aboard the Orca, the boat (that needed to be bigger) to defeat the shark, when he was working that is.
And now there are waves of excitement after the sharkless show has had its run extended to 13 February 2022.
It was originally set to fin on January 15, but like Jaws the film, and the book before it, is proving to be quite the hit with audiences and critics alike.
The Shark Is Broken charts the ups and down between Robert Shaw (a stunning performance by his actual son Ian Shaw) and Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss.
Producer Sonia Friedman said today ‘It’s with immense pride and joy that we’re announcing this extension of ‘The Shark is Broken’ at the Ambassador’s Theatre - put simply, we’re gonna need a bigger run! Having been suspended for 16 months in 2020, just before rehearsals were due to commence, it’s fantastic that this new play has finally opened in the West End to such a rapturous response, with our dedicated audiences travelling from all over the UK to see this entertaining yet profound look behind the scenes of one of the most famous films ever made.’
