JAWS SCORE MAKES JOHN CARPENTER HALLOWEEN HORROR HIT LIST
John Carpenter is as famed for his music as he is his movies, so he was the natural choice to host a special radio show bursting with horror music, which included Jaws.
The director of Halloween (1978), The Fog (1980), The Thing (1982) and Christine (1983) hosted the midnight - of course - show on BBC 6 Music.
The hour long freak zone show is a musical journey through the mind of this horror master who also scored the likes of the original Halloween and its same-titled sequel Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills (2021), this time alongside his son, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies.
Carpenter's musical monster mash saw him guide us through some of his favourite, and some of the most influential, pieces of horror and science-fiction music ever to pass our ears, that includes the Hammer Dracula, Psycho, The Exorcist and Jaws.
We dive into what makes the John Williams score for the Steven Spielberg 1975 shark classic, here:
John Williams and Jaws
Here's the full list of all the great classic and more contemporary pieces featured on the one-off show, which you can almost imagine John Carpenter presenting from the lighthouse in Antonio Bay. And that's exactly where the show begins, with the theme from The Fog.
If you are able to, you can listen to the show for the next month, here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0010y8g
