SHARK THRILLER 'THE BLACK DEMON' TO START SHOOTING IN DECEMBER

A new shark film has been announced, this time with a Megalodon causing panic in the water.

The Black Demon is based on the legend of a huge shark that patrols Mexican waters, which has even had numerous sightings from local fisherman in recent years.

The creature - some say it is a huge great white, some a Megalodon and others a brand new species - was also featured on an episode of MonsterQuest.

True tale or not it is a huge tail (fin) and will be swiping away on screens soon.

It's from a screenplay by Boise Esquerra, who knows a thing or two about terror in the water having penned the crocodile horror. Blackwater.

At the helm is Rambo: Last Blood director, Adrian Grunberg.

It stars Josh Lucas, who isn't unfamiliar to water-based thrills having starred in Wolfgang Peterson's Posseidon, which also starred Jaws alumni Richard Dreyfuss. The Posseidon Adventure remake proved that having a bigger boat didn't necessarily mean things were any better.

The logline for the forthcoming film is as follows: The film follows oilman Paul Sturges (Lucas) as he takes his family on vacation to Bahia Azul.

There, the coastal town he and his wife once knew has mysteriously crumbled and the locals are nowhere to be found. Paul starts off his day with a routine visit to inspect his nearby oil rig, but before he knows it, his entire family has landed with him on the rotting metal tower.

Actor Josh Lucas set to star in new shark movie ‘The Black Demon’

From the depths of the ocean rises a massive megalodon known only by its name: the Black Demon. Under constant threat from this primeval species of shark, Paul must find a way to get his family back to shore alive.

The news of The Black Demon was announced as an exclusive by Variety, with the film set to reach the surface and cinema screens in 2023.
