Richard Dreyfuss actor says JAWS play raises the roof

After being postponed for over a year, because of Covid, The Shark Is Broken has made its West End debut.

And according to Richard Dreyfuss actor, Liam Murray Scott, it was well worth the wait.

Taking to Twitter after the shows first sold out preview performance, he wrote:

Over two years since we performed this beautiful show, and the response tonight has been ridiculous, astounding, overwhelming, other adjectives that I can't find. From the bottom of my heart, thank you ❤️. Can now cross "Perform in a West End show" off the list #TheSharkIsBroken

The play, which charts the behind-the-scenes issues during the making of Steven Spielberg's Jaws, focuses on the three main actors in the film, Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw.

Scheider is played by Demetri Goritsas and Shaw is played by non other than his son, Ian Shaw, who also co-wrote the stunning, funny and moving play with Joseph Nixon.

It all takes place on the Orca, which is like the fourth star of the film and play, and although that boat sinks at the end of the film, it won't face the same fate on stage.

Judging by the the rapturous applause and standing ovation on that first preview night, the Orca and its crew are in no danger of sinking, in fact it is soaring high for Jaws, film and theatre fans alike.
