What should be in the Jaws 50th Anniversary Box Set?

Jaws isn’t just one of the greatest movies ever made, it’s one of the most re-released with new formats offering better and better audio visual experiences as well as numerous milestone anniversaries. Most Jaws box sets have been decent offerings with the restored film looking and sounding great enhanced by strong extras, although the covers have sometimes annoyingly deviated from the original poster art work.

Jaws fans and movie collectors seem to have been most impressed by the 30th anniversary collector's edition box set (my personal favourite) and the 45th anniversary 4K UHD (and blu-ray). Both are nicely packaged (although missing the original Roger Kastel artwork) with a quality feel and nice extras. However, the 50th anniversary requires something truly special.

With the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s shark classic less than 3 years away, now would be the time for Jaws owners Universal Pictures (and possibly Amblin) to start thinking about the definitive box set to truly honor half a century of one of it’s most iconic and profitable properties. Pardon the totally intentional pun, but Universal Pictures really must do all they can to push the boat out as far as possible.
