NEW VICE PRESS JAWS POSTER OF ICONIC SCENE WILL HAVE YOU SMILING LIKE A SON OF A BEACH

Jaws posters are legion, but a new Vice Press poster is always something to get excited about, and their latest officially licensed product is no exception.

Artist Andrew Swainson presents us an idyllic South Beach scene on Amity Island, which is the calm moments before the storm that is the attack on Alex Kintner.

Alex can be seen making his way out from the beach on his yellow lilo, and in the surf we can also see Pipit being chased by his yellow t-shirt wearing owner.

Yellow is something of a signifier for the shark in the 1975 Steven Spielberg classic, along with the yellow barrels and Mrs Kintner’s summer hat.

We’ve also got an ‘uptight’ Chief Brody and Ellen up by the beach huts, whilst parked at the back is his Chevy Blazer. All of which gives those viewing it something new to spot every time, much like watching the actual film then.

But where is the shark? Take another look and the shape of its head is already there, the crashing waves forming its teeth, the sand its lower jaws, and its head the ocean. And it its mouth, Alex swims towards oblivion.

It’s a great and memorable way of presenting such a pivotal Jaws moment in a fresh and unique way.
