Sequel to Netflix shark hit 'Under Paris' is set to surface
Netflix has confirmed that Under Paris, the 2024 shark thriller that surprised audiences worldwide, is officially getting a sequel.
The first movie, directed by Xavier Gens and starring Bérénice Bejo, became a shark streaming sensation, amassing nearly 180 million viewing hours and marking one of the most successful launches for a non-English language film on the streaming platform.
No details have been released about the upcoming sequel, the news of which was announced by Variety, but our best guess is that the sequel to one of the best received shark films of the year will continue the storyline where the original left off, with a submerged Paris.
We do know that Bérénice Bejo, Oscar nominee for The Artist, who played a grieving marine biologist determined to save Paris from a mutated shark in the Seine River, is set to return to the aqua action sequel.
With the ramifications of a submerged Paris besieged by the returning killer mutant shark, Lilith, it looks like just when we thought it was safe to return to the water, it won't be.
We can't wait to see what direction this follow up takes, and whether it dials the shark action levels up to 11.
Were you a fan of the original and are you looking forward to this shark sequel?
