YOU'RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BOWL: FAN CREATES THE ULTIMATE JAWS BATHROOM

My name is Ashley Causey and I'm from Helena, AL. I've always been fascinated and loved horror movies, which was all I thought "Jaws" was until I revisited it once I was older. It's so complex, has great acting and character backstories, is shot fantastically, and to me it's the perfect film that defies genre.

It is one of the QUINTessential films that inspired me to get into filmmaking at a young age. I even named one of the leads in my second short film "Brody" after the great sheriff. "The Jaws Log" by Carl Gottlieb is an incredible book that inspires me anytime I'm working on a project, and is a great read for anyone interested in filmmaking or the inspiring story of young creatives.

I've always been a crafty person, making my own movie props and various cosplays. I really wanted to challenge myself and see if I could tackle a DIY room makeover.

I wanted to start slow, so I decided to turn my little bathroom into an underwater "Jaws" tribute. I wanted to include as much detail as possible and scoured the internet for reference pictures from the film.

The barrels Quint attaches to the shark to try and slow him down were my first idea, and after hunting at a local dollar store I found some air fresheners that resembled the shape of them.

I stripped them, cleaned them, painted them yellow, glued them together, and weathered them to make them look closer to the barrels in the film.

After attaching some nautical rope and ornament hooks, I was able to create this beautiful ceiling decoration that really puts you in the atmosphere and makes the whole room come together.

A man cave-type sign I found at a thrift store was repainted to resemble the "No swimming" sign on the beach. Nautical rope was added to blue accessories to give it more of a beach theme and feel. Bruce even took a bite out of my rug!

I had so much fun hunting all over town for different items to tie the whole thing together and turn a room most people don't think about into one I'm very proud of. It's inspired me to continue to create different themed rooms when I get my own place, and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do!
